I learnt to quilt whilst living in North Carolina USA in the early 2000 where I was mentored by the incredible Michelle May of the "Raspberry Rabbits". I have now been teaching and making quilts for over 18 years.
I enjoy traditional quilting techniques and have won numerous quilt show awards both in the UK and USA.
During the course of my career I have taught for museums, department stores (John Lewis) and have had work published.
I specialise in (and I am fanatical about!) felted wool appliqué on a sewing machine and by hand using speciality threads and was invited to the Houston International Quilt Festival in (2017) to demonstrate my techniques. I also love to make Civil War and 30's reproduction quilts and also enjoy really small piecing.
I am a regular guest designer and presenter for Sewing Quarter TV where I give advice tips and demo "Live" sewing - which is a little scary at times!
I also currently teach residential short Patchwork and Quilting courses at Denman WI College in Oxford and love to teach retreats on a private basis!
I have a first class honours degree in Education Studies and in my previous life worked for the UK Education Regulator - Ofsted.
You can find me on Facebook and YouTube as Sallieann Harrison - Quilter.
